Tara Kripowicz

Managing Director

Tara Kripowicz is the Managing Director of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.  Joining BKC in October, 2023, she brings more than fifteen years of demonstrated leadership and management experience in operations and administration to this role. Tara has dedicated her career to mission driven work in the academic and private non-profit environments, serving in leadership roles at Mass Audubon, MIT Sloan, Wellesley College and Harvard Law School.

With a strong scientific background and commitment to understanding complex organizations and the people who make them possible, she thrives on knitting together siloed areas, working with diverse teams across functional areas, and clearing roadblocks for the people around her to be able to do their best work.

Tara studied biology and chemistry in her undergraduate program and ecology and environmental science in graduate school. After nearly 10 years with Mass Audubon, she realized that what was most inspiring to her was figuring out how mission driven organizations can run most effectively, providing meaningful work for those who commit their careers to them. This led her to pivot back to academia, where she has been since 2014.

Tara looks forward to putting her experience and expertise to work in service of BKC.

In her free time, she is often in the kitchen procrasticooking (handing off household chores she doesn’t like by spending time making delicious food), or she can be found outside (running, hiking, gardening, taking pictures of insects) and spending time with her family which includes four kids, three dogs, two cats, and one leopard gecko.
