Participatory Politics

Holmes Wilson

Downhill Battle's Participatory Culture Foundation recently launched ParticipatoryPolitics.org. The aim of Participatory Politics is to design tools that overcome common barriers to political participation given that the Internet has made mass participation in politics possible.  The people behind Participatory Politics are also behind the IP activism group Downhill Battle, which is currently building an open source platform for video distribution.

Holmes Wilson, one of the co-founders of ParticipatoryPolitics.org and Downhill Battle, spoke about their current efforts -- OpenCongress.org (collaborative legislation tracking), Conversate (ad hoc messageboards), and their vision for more productive and engaging online discussion spaces.

An audio archive of this meeting is now available online.
