My name is Michael Schakow and I am a 2L from Berkeley, CA. Before law school I worked as a lobbyist for five years for Sun Microsystems, first in Silicon Valley and then in Washington, DC. I have absolutely no formal technical training, but my job at Sun was to translate between engineers and policy makers, and I really liked it. I helped architect several enterprise deployments of federated identity management infrastructure for customers that wanted to develop new web services using the Liberty Alliance protocols (single sign-on, privacy protections for user data, etc.) that allowed them to raise funds for political candidates in novel ways but still remain compliant with FEC regulations and privacy laws.
