[openlaw] Eldred Still Waiting; Government Files Golan Response

Updates on the fight against copyright term extensions:
We are still awaiting the Supreme Court's decision whether to hear our
first challenge, Eldred v. Ashcroft. The case has been set for another
scheduling conference today.

The government has filed its reply brief in Golan v. Ashcroft, reasserting
that the Constitution permits plundering of the public domain through
copyright extensions. The government's motion to dismiss is now fully
briefed to the Colorado District Court.

"This controversy rests on a disagreement over what is best for the
public," the government now argues. As members of that public, how are you
affected by the Copyright Term Extension Act? Is a 20-year extension of
past and future copyrights best for you?
