I want to support Iqbal's point about technology. Just as "high" technology=
for its own sake may not fit a developing country context, so not using =
the best technology available may be equally a mistake. This is pointed =
out by some of the case studies on digital divide closing ventures we are =
doing--summaries available on www.digitaldividend.org. A quick example =
will make the point. Voice recognition is sexy new technology--check any =
Sprint ad. But in a developing country context, that same technology can =
enable illiterate people to interact with digital systems (computers, =
phones, websites) to get basic information or do simple transactions.=20
