Matt Zagaja

Matt Zagaja is an attorney and hacker from Connecticut. As the Ford Mozilla Technology Exchange Fellow he worked on the Lumen Database (formerly Chilling Effects) project. In law school he focused on intellectual property and internet law. After graduating from UConn Law School in 2009 he worked for UConn Business School helping entrepreneurs develop business plans to secure investments in their start-up companies. He then managed a mayoral race in New Haven, Connecticut and most recently was the Deputy Data Director at the Connecticut Democratic Party.

Matt has been working in information technology since high school and is primarily interested in the use of technology to help people navigate legal systems and improve government. In New Haven, Connecticut he helped organize National Day of Civic Hacking events which bring together hackers and community members to build tools to engage citizens with their governments. He enjoys programming in Ruby on Rails and built TowedCar.info which will send you a text message if your car is towed.

Matt is currently the lead civic web developer at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council in Boston.
