Eric Priest

Archived Biography: Eric was a Resident Fellow overseeing the China implementation of the Noank Digital Media Exchange project, a next-generation copyright licensing system for the legal distribution and transmission of digital works over the Internet. Eric is an expert in Chinese copyright law, digital media and Internet issues. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology. Previously, Eric was an associate in the Trademark, Copyright, and Brand Management Group at the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP. He holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School and a J.D. with high honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Chicago-Kent Law Review. Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Priest was co-founder and president of Westgate Artists, a music production company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota with gold- and platinum-selling international releases on major record labels including PolyGram and BMG. Eric also worked as a creative consultant to Rock Records in Beijing, China, helping the label develop one of the most successful bands in China during the past five years. Eric speaks Mandarin Chinese.
