Using ascii characters to represent a face or emotion.  Smileys
are ususlly used in [[email]] messages or in [[chat]].

Some basic examples:

  :)      is a smile
  :(      is a frown
  :P      has a lolling tongue
  ;)      is wiking
  B)      has sunglasses
  :-)     has a nose
