Open source ComputerSoftware is nominally owned by one entity, such as the [[Free Software Foundation]], and then licensed out according to an [[open source license]]; the license gives the user free use of the software as well access to the [[Source code]], so that the software can then be further developed by whoever is interested. (This needs to be expanded.) The [[open source movement]] is a large movement of programmers and other computer users to give easy access to ComputerSoftware. There is widespread agreement, but some tension, between the [[open source movement]] and the [[free software movement]]. Among the relevant topics: [[Donald E Knuth]], [[Richard Stallman]], [[Linus Torvalds]], [[Eric Raymond]], [[Paul Vixie]] The GNUProjecT (see also [[GNU]]), the [[GPL]], [[Free Software Foundation]], [[Debian Linux]] distribution, [[FreeBSD]] [[Open Source Software]]: [[Emacs]], TeX, [[Vim]], [[Apache]], [[XFree]], [[Gimp]], [[PHP]]...
