There is a large number of different conceptions of the divine, and this is even reflected in the many NamesGivenToTheDivine.

The view that the divine exists is called ''TheIsm.''  There are four varieties of theism, or four differing theories, or conceptions, about God: MonoTheism, PanTheism, PolyTheism, and AnimIsm (which latter might be regarded as a special variety of either PolyTheism or PanTheism).

There is an ancient tradition that began with the first ProPhet of JudaIsm, AbraHam (or instead with AdAm, for believers), according to which there is one God, a SpirIt, that (or who) is the CreatorOfTheWorld, OmniPotent (all-powerful), OmniScient (all-knowing), and (on most views? I need help here) OmniBenevolent (all-loving).  This basic conception is shared by JudaIsm, ChristianIty, and IsLam, though, of course, it is much embellished by each religion (and sects within each religion).
