http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/views/events-upcoming/13 %1 Events en http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/events/luncheon/2008/05/cmlp <p><strong></strong>Members of the Citizen Media Law Project discussed the project’s accomplishments over its first year, including the creation of a state-specific legal guide for citizen media creators, the development of a database of legal threats directed at online expression, and recent litigation efforts on behalf of Wikileaks.org and others.&nbsp; </p><p>CMLP provided a first look at the threats in its database, which includes lawsuits, subpoenas, cease-and-desist letters, and other legal threats directed at bloggers, website operators, and others.&nbsp; CMLP staff will highlight a few of the more interesting entries, including a recent lawsuit against iBrattleboro.com, a community journalism site in Brattleboro VT, and the lawsuit against Autoadmit, a popular law school forum.&nbsp; The discussion concluded a review of recent trends and preliminary thoughts on the legal climate for online publishers.&nbsp; </p><p>The CMLP is eager to get suggestions and feedback on how it can best analyze the data in the database, improve user participation in the project, and generally how to open up the process of content creation. </p> <h3>Links</h3> <ul> <li><a href="http://citmedialaw.org/">Citizen Media Law Project Website</a></li></ul> Citizen Media education intellectual property Wed, 13 Feb 2008 23:41:12 -0500 ashar 2177 at http://cyber.law.harvard.edu
