the internet has flourished without government regulation, so why should politicians interfer with this success and upset analready slowing us economy?
     Anonymous: Did this flourishing take place during a period in which internet access (transport layer) was subject to even more substantial nondiscriminatory safeguards (common carriage, etc)?

Persephone: Why not center the Internet around people instead of "consumers"? It will not be long before having broadband is as essential to a decent life as having electricity or clean water.
     Erica George: I substitute "citizens" every time the term "consumer" comes up in the govt policy context. Even "users" in this context isn't enough to convey the level of shared ownership and shakeholdership in the internet that everyone in a society shhould share.
