As a Project Manager at the Berkman Center, Nathaniel is privileged to work on several initiatives cutting across the themes of education, youth, and innovation. Nathaniel is the HarvardX Fellow and Coordinator for HLS1x Copyright, an experimental online venture and the first EdX course offering in law. He helps manage research and “translational” efforts youth associated with the Center’s partnership with the Born This Way Foundation, on topics such as youth relationships and activism. As part of the Youth and Media project, Nathaniel contributes to research and programmatic efforts that explore how young people use technology and offer insights for educators, policymakers, and youth themselves. Another topical focus of his work is government innovation – that is, exploring opportunities at the intersection of open gov, open data, and civic entrepreneurship.
Nathaniel co-authored Bullying in a Networked Era: A Literature Review and, as a Research Assistant, contributed to Youth and Digital Media: From Credibility to Information Quality. Since leaving Brown with a History degree in December 2010, Nathaniel has also run intro computer classes for adult learners, contributed to open education projects, and climbed Neutaconkanut Hill in Providence, Rhode Island. When he reads fiction, it tends to be science fiction.
