Private Actors and State Action in Cyberspace
From OpenNet Initiative Conference 2007
The role of private actors in state-sponsored filtering is a complex and controversial question. What is the responsibility of corporate actors vis-à-vis governments? What is the right mix of voluntary and government-led action, and the role of individual action versus collective responses? We will explore these questions via a discussion of the ongoing multistakeholder process to create principles on free expression and privacy.
