John Palfrey named new head of Harvard Law library

With more than a little bit of pride and enthusiasm, we celebrate the appointment of our dear friend and colleague John Palfrey as Harvard Law School's first Vice Dean of Library and Information Resources.

John was among HLS’ first Clinical Professors (and has many other firsts to his name), and we’re confident that he'll dive into this amazing opportunity with the same thoughtful, inclusive, creative, vigorous, and fun approach that he's brought to his long list of successes, Berkman “2.0” chief among them -- in our minds, anyway.

While there is no way to replace JP, in his ever-caring and strategic way, he leaves us at an organizational peak, stronger than we've ever been and well prepared for our next adventures. Furthermore, he'll still be a Berkman faculty director; and we know where the library is.

And yes, he'll bristle and blush at all of our effusiveness, but hopefully he’ll realize that this is the reserved version, and appreciate our Herculean resistance to the temptation to strike up the band and really sing his praises.

As John is wont to say: Onward!
