Sunlight Foundation and the PPF Launch OpenCongress.org

Adding to their efforts to increase civic engagement and government transparency, the Sunlight Foundation and the Participatory Politics Foundation launched their latest joint effort yesterday: OpenCongress.org.

They describe the venture as "bring(ing) together, for the first time in one place, all the best information about what's really happening in Congress: official government info from THOMAS, made available by GovTrack.us; news articles from Google News; blog posts from Technorati and Google Blog Search; campaign contribution information from OpenSecrets.org; and more."

The project seeks to "close the information gap between political insiders and the general public, making Congress more transparent and encouraging civic engagement."

Visit OpenCongress.org to see the latest action on legislation, blog about current events, and read features on Representatives and Senators.
