- What is the purpose of the KBW Research Series? The KBW Series publishes papers that synthesize existing peer-reviewed research (or equivalent scholarship e.g., legal decisions or law review articles) and provide research-grounded insight to particular audiences, in order to help those audiences empower youth to create a kinder, braver world.
- What types of topics do papers cover? The series is being developed in phases. Each phase will consist of two or three topic areas. [See Call for Papers]. Over time, papers are expected to cover a broad range of topics related to youth empowerment, kindness, and bravery. They are expected to address a broad swath of youth, including youth from different socio-economic backgrounds, values, racial and ethnic groups, genders and sexual orientations.
- Are papers intended for particular audiences? Yes, each paper is written with a clear target audience or audiences in mind. Audiences may include, for example: youth, parents, teachers, school administrators, school boards, afterschool programs, coaches, choral directors, religious leaders, policy makers, and community centers. While most papers are focused on U.S. audiences, some may have an international reach. Of course, papers written with one intended audience also may benefit others.
- Are papers based on any particular type of research? Papers rely on various types of research. Fields and disciplines include, for example: social science, scientific, mental health, health, and legal.
- Are papers restricted to research about youth, or is research on adults included as well? Most papers in the series will focus on research about youth. To the extent that empowering youth to create a kinder, braver world involves guiding adults to help them, research on adults (i.e., parents, teachers, school administrators) also may be relevant.
- What is the process for submitting a paper for publication?Information on how to submit a paper, content and formatting requirements, and our review process, is here.
- Who decides whether a paper will be published? At all steps during this process and at all times, the Editors and the Berkman Center retain the sole right to decide whether or not to accept papers, publish papers, and/or remove papers from publication.
- How may the papers on this site be used or re-used?
