MIT Students Create "Safe" Music Sharing Service for Campus
October 27, 2003
As reported in the
Boston Globe and
New York Times, two MIT students created Libraries Access to Music Project, backed by MIT and Microsoft. The service makes music available through the campus cable television network, in a way which seems to avoid copyright infringement.
Professor Jonathan Zittrain comments in the Times article that the students have "arrayed the gerbils under the hood so it appears to meet the statutory requirement."
