Nesson's Commons Sense

June 25, 2003

charles nessonThe Berkman Center's Charles NessonJohn Palfrey and Jonathan Zittrain taught Internet Law 2003 June 16-20 @ Harvard's Program of Instruction for Lawyers. We also blogged much of it in "real time."

A snippet, via John Palfrey, blogging live from the classroom on Thursday:

Charles Nesson: "Imagine it this way: how cyberspace is built makes a great deal of difference to how it is to live there....Ultimately, the goal is balance. You don't want an environment that's all open--there's no shelter. You don't want an environment that's all closed--you can't breathe. You want a balance in this environment, with some tension. We certainly have the tension. I don't know whether we yet have the balance."

A full week's worth of weblog commentary, as well as the syllabus and other additional reading materials, can be found linked from the Internet Law 2003 website.
