Karen Coppock


Archived biography: Karen Coppock researches corporate strategy and economic development. Specifically, Karen is directing her doctoral research at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, towards exploring how leading information and communication technology (ICT) firms are collaborating with other organizations to simultaneously develop human capital and ICT markets in Latin America.

Prior to Fletcher, Karen spent four years with Telcordia, most recently as Assistant Vice President of Strategic Accounts, International. In this capacity, Karen worked closely with leading international telecommunications companies, assisting them with their strategic initiatives. Before joining Telcordia, Karen launched and headed the Latin American regional sales office for Williams Communications. Karen has also held positions with INTELSAT, Pacific Bell and AT&T.

Karen collaborated with the Information Technology Group of Harvard’s Center for International Development from 2001 to 2002. At this research institute, she co-authored a study on regional electronic commerce initiatives and authored country profiles for Mexico and Uruguay in the Global IT Report published by the Center for International Development and the World Economic Forum.

Karen received her Master's Degree from the Fletcher School and graduated cum laude in both Business Administration and Modern Languages (Spanish) from the California State University at Chico. Karen is expecting to receive her doctoral degree in May of 2004.
