Liza Chambers is the Executive Director of Soliya –- a non-profit organization that works to build intercultural understanding between the US and the Muslim World and to galvanize young people to act as agents of change. The program promotes constructive global engagement through its Connect Program -- a unique cross-cultural education program that directly connects university students in the US with university students in predominantly Muslim countries in the Middle East via groundbreaking online collaboration, videoconferencing and video-editing technology.
Liza was recently named one of “the world’s Best Emerging Social Entrepreneurs” by the Echoing Green Foundation for her work with Solis. She has worked for several years as a facilitator at Seeds of Peace, providing training and facilitating dialogue for youth from conflict areas, including the Middle East, Cyprus and the former Yugoslavia. She was a Program Manager at Conflict Management Group, where she directed a program that brought Israeli and Palestinian negotiators together to participate in skills training and dialogue. Prior to that she was Director of Youth Programs for NCCJ-San Diego where she managed programs that promoted dialogue about issues of race, class and gender. She has also developed dialogue programs in South Africa and at Brown University and was a human rights observer and trainer in Chiapas, Mexico. She holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School at Harvard University, where she did extensive coursework on conflict resolution.
