As distinct from general social skills

The ability to use appropriate technology to advance communicative or coordination goals. While it may not be possible to separate fully from general social skills, there are aspects unique to socialization via email, videoconferencing, etc.

Writes Ron Friedman: "There is evidence that even pre-tech, lawyers were bad at collaboration, communication, and managing projects. One war story: paralegals who kept working on a big case for a couple of days AFTER it settled b/c the lawyers did not tell them it settled. Pre- or post-tech era, whether a project is properly managed depends on the mindset and skill of partner or senior associates."
