The Internet Law Program at Harvard features two central components: a distance-learning component and classroom instruction. No previous experience with Internet law is required and international participation is encouraged. The lectures are designed to appeal to professionals from diverse backgrounds, including business, law, education, technology, policy, and journalism. American lawyers may be eligible for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit.

Course Fee

The course fee is inclusive of the online and classroom instruction, all curricular materials and lunch daily. Please note that the fee does not include accommodations.

$1,995 Standard registration fee

$1,395 Registration fee for staff attorneys to public interest and public service organizations, government and non-profit executives, and full-time educators

$895 Registration fee for full-time students (There are a limited number of spaces available at this rate. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.)

$700 Daily registration fee (There are a limited number of spaces reserved each day for those who want to participate, but cannot attend the entire program. Please register in advance in order to secure your space on the days you will be attending. This fee covers the online and classroom instruction, curricular materials and lunch.)

Reduced registraton fee: If you are a returning program participant, you will receive a 15% reduction off the applicable registration fee. The discount does not apply to the daily registration fee.

Online Instruction

The online instruction will take place on April 14 – May 5, 2004. It is intended to accommodate participants with a range of backgrounds and knowledge levels. A series of resources will be made available to participants online and on DVDs, and discussion forums will allow participants to engage in structured weekly dialogue about relevant topics.

When you have registered and paid for the program, you will be assigned a username and password, which will give you access to the reading materials, video lectures and discussion forums effective April 14.

Classroom Instruction

The core segment of the program is an intensive 3-day series of lectures and discussions on May 13 – 15, 2004 designed to explore all aspects of contemporary Internet law. Professors William Fisher, Charles Nesson and Jonathan Zittrain of Harvard, Lawrence Lessig of Stanford, and Yochai Benkler of Yale comprise the five core faculty. Events and meals also will foster discussion and encourage further idea exchange.
