The Berkman Center and the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in Brazil have joined together to offer this program in Rio. It will be held at Le Meridien Copacabana, a luxury ocean-front hotel in the heart of the city with first-class conference and business facilities. Lectures will be conducted in English with Portuguese translation.

Course Fee

The course fee is inclusive of both the online and classroom instruction. Daily lunches, breaks, two evening social events, and all curricular materials are included in the fee as well. The fee does not include hotel accommodations.

$700 USD standard fee

$500 USD fee for staff attorneys to public interest organizations, government employees, and full-time educators

$300 USD fee for full-time students (There are a limited number of spaces available at this rate. Admission is on a first-come first-serve basis.)

$200 USD fee for daily rate (There are a limited number of spaces reserved each day for those who want to participate, but cannot attend the week-long program. Please register in advance in order to secure your space on the days you will be attending. This fee covers the online and classroom instruction, curricular materials and lunch.)

Online Instruction

The online instruction will take place February 24 through March 19, 2003. When you register, you will be assigned a username and password which will give you access to the reading materials and online discussions beginning February 24th.
