StopBadware.org: Internship Opportunities
The StopBadware project seeks website testing interns on an ongoing basis to help process requests from website owners for assistance in identifying and removing malware from their websites. The primary requirements for these positions are comfort reading and interpreting web code like HTML and Javascript, and experience and knowledge of the various forms of malware that can be used to exploit internet users.
Our project operates a clearinghouse for URLs which Google or other partners determine to host malware. Website owners often do not understand why their websites have been added to our clearinghouse, whether because they are unaware that their sites have been compromised or because they cannot find the source of their problem. As part of our review process, our interns manually browse the code of websites whose owners have requested a review, and either document the exploits that are hosted on the site, or record our independent opinion that the site is presently clean.
If you are excited about hunting malware and have a good understanding of how websites work 'under the hood', we would love to employ you as a testing intern!
