Berkman Luncheon Series
Open Government Data for Open Accountability
Felipe Heusser, Berkman Center Fellow
The talk revises Open Government Data policy (OGD) as the ultimate chapter of a transparency story traditionally dominated by 'Freedom of Information Acts' (FOIA). It addresses the problem of FOIA obsolescence, and points out to some of the most relevant impacts that may result from OGD implementation. In particular, the talk will discuss the impact of OGD in the field of accountability, highlighting the rise of a more open sort of accountability relationship led by a new breed of watchdogs and online tools where the power to account is now crowdsourced. This event will be webcast live at 12:30pm ET.
