Roadmap to be released at launch event September 9

The Berkman Center for Internet & Society is pleased to invite you to join us in an open discussion on “Evolving to Open ICT Ecosystems,” on Friday, September 9. The World Bank will host the discussion from 9-11am in Room I 1-200 of the World Bank’s I Building, which is located at 1850 I Street in Washington, DC.

This lively and timely discussion will focus on the key recommendations of the Center’s latest report, the “Roadmap for Open ICT Ecosystems,” and will invite your responses on how governments, industry, and civil society can collaborate to build and reap the benefits of open ICT ecosystems. Presentations will highlight how openness enables government efficiencies, innovative societies, and industry growth from the thirteen nations that participated in producing this report. Industry and non-government participants will add their views on the technologies and policies needed to foster this openness.

The event will be moderated by David Satola, Senior Counsel of Finance and Private Sector Development & Infrastructure, World Bank. Charles Nesson, a Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the Berkman Center’s Faculty Co-Director, will introduce the report. Karla Norwsorthy, Vice President of Software Standards for IBM Corporation, and Dr. Donald Deutsch, Vice President of Standards Strategy and Architecture for Oracle Corporation, will provide their perspectives.

For information about the event please contact the Berkman Center at +1.617.495.7547 or epolicy at cyber.law.harvard.edu.
