Open Access: Should the Corporate Owners of Cable Networks be Permitted to Control Internet Access?

Wednesday, February 23, 6:30 - 8:30p.m. EST

In an era of increasing demand for high-speed Internet access, rapid development of the existing broadband cable network may make cable access to the Internet the new standard. Will cable network owners AT&T and AOL-Time Warner become de facto gatekeepers of the Internet? What happens if a single corporation gains control of Internet access? Do we risk converting the Internet as we know it to a corporate intranet?

Join Professor Charles Nesson, the Berkman Center for Internet & Society, and the students, staff and faculty of Harvard Law School for a live webcast discussion on the theme of openness and the Internet.

Participants include:

  • Dr. Mark Cooper, Consumer Federation of America
  • Professor Einer Elhauge, Harvard Law School
  • Professor Jerry A. Hausman, MIT
  • Professor Charles Nesson, Harvard Law School
  • Professor Jerome Saltzer, MIT
Open Access is a debate about who will control the future of the Internet.
