Semi-Retired Computer Software Systems Programmer for IBM Mainframe Computers

Currently interested in all forms of collaboration and multi-lingual global communications, with a mission to enable all people on our planet to communicate effectively regardless of their geographic and socio-economic boundaries. The technology is available to incorporate dynamic language translation (Machine Translation) into our Telephone, Instant Messaging, Blogs, VOIP Conversations, etc.; however, the infrastructure needs the investment of the resources that are being researched and presented in this Cyberone course.

Unfortunately, my programming skills have been limited to Cobol and Assembler on the IBM Mainframe, and I have limited ability to write code in the new Open Ended Network Environment. There may be a place for the "legacy mainframe" in the Global Network, as I think it offers the computer processing power to interpret and dynamically translate (on the fly in realtime) the numerous multi-lingual conversations that would be taking place at any one moment in time. The mainframe may provide the backend web services to provide the heavy lifting of computer processing requirements required by machine translation.

By interacting with the bright minds and enthusiastic Professors and Students of this Cyberone course, I hope to build on my goals to develop and implement a FREE (Emphasis Added) platform for worldwide "speech-to-speech" communications.

Professor Charles Nesson and his daughter Rebecca have definitely stimulated my interest in Open Ended Global Communications and Open (Accessible/Free) dissemination of Knowledge.
