Hi. I'm Jan Coe from Downey, California. I'm a systems librarian at Rio Hondo College Library in Whittier, CA. I can't remember how I stumbled upon CyberOne - but now I'm hooked! Probably because of the Second Life connection - I'm still finding my way around SL (as Yan Kinsei) and often hangout near or in the Second Life Library 2.0. I love the idea of wikis and this course is the best use of a wiki I've seen. The lecture videos help a lot , too, to make the whole thing real to people who are on the other side of the country.

This course is ground-breaking for many reasons. It's "open source" nature; its wide embrace of different categories of students; the availability of the readings; the mix of media used; the "get in there and try it out" philosophy with regard to tools and applications such as podcasting, videos, etc. I love it.

I'm intrigued by the idea and practice of empathic argument - it almost seems a self-evident way to behave, but that is not the tradition in our litigious society.

I'm still catching up on the topics in the course and the readings - not to mention the riveting videos - so I may be contributing long after you all have left!
