Exploring the ocean floor at Oyster Bay
According to the Second Arts Blog run by Morris Vig (one of the proprietors of The Oyster Bay Aquatic and Terrestrial Sculpture Garden), the four key goals of Oyster Bay are to 1. expose new Second Lifers to works created using Second Life as a medium; 2. promote the sale of artwork generated by the artists of Oyster Bay; 3. "grow a community of interest" in the creative works; and 4. encourage exploration in Second Life art.

Though the area is not overwrought with avatars there are usually at least a few visitors, even into the evening hours, viewing art or visiting shops. One of the hotspots at Oyster Bay is the Second Arts Photography Gallery. Another very unique and creative destination is the Aquarium, where you can be transported into a sub-aquatic tube to observe, then transport out of the tube to explore the ocean floor and the ocean life - also fantastically fashioned by Second Life artists. This feature exemplifies the benefits of art in virtual reality - there are no boundaries.

At the far end of the docks are a number of newspaper and magazine kiosks that link to websites that keep visiting avatars connected to the Second Life art world at large and help them continue to explore as stated in the four key goals of Oyster Bay.
