Virtual Libraries Services

Second Life is home to a variety of Virtual Libraries. These SL locations represent real libraries and their information (e.g., UNC, Nebraska, IBM, Kansas).

IBM

While visiting the Virtual Center for Library Information, I was able to even meet a Harvard Graduate. The two residents informed me that, when opened, the Virtual Libraries Services will be home to online library catalogs and other services a real life person would find in their library. This location will serve as Virtual Library.

Informational

The Reader's Garden

The Reader’s Garden is a haven for readers and authors to meet and share their thoughts and feelings about the books they are reading or writing. We host book discussions, poetry readings, author appearances, and other literature-related events, provide recommended reading lists and other resources, and work to facilitate communication among the readers of Second Life.

The Reader's Garden is always open to the general public for informal visits with other readers, or to hang out and read in our peaceful garden on the waterfront.

We have a Second Life group, "Book Discussion Circle," that we encourage you to join so that we can keep you updated on our events and activities. Enrollment is free. You can find the group using the in-world "search groups" function, or IM Princess Ivory for an invitation.

Our blog, http://readersgardensl.blogspot.com/ includes a schedule of upcoming events, information about the Reader's Garden, and additional resources for readers and writers (resources coming soon!).
