My passion for graphic design led me on a quest to learn how objects are built in Second Life. After some preliminary exploration, I discovered that building objects or "primitives" in Second Life can be rather involved and the path to knowledge not well-documented.

I will try to share what I have learned in the process.

Embarking on the journey towards becoming a builder begins at Help Island Public(128,128,0),

where one can learn the basics about working with the 3-D modeler employed in Second Life:

Its fun and easy to experiment with the fundamental "prims". As you can see here, I'm sliding a pyramid prim along the red z-axis grid.

While the lessons and images here are interesting and instructive, there is no easy way to translate these conceptual ideas into practical applications. That's where the tutorials in Second Life can come in handy: Building Step2: Tutorials
