Thoughts on Rodney King

  • I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the Rodney King Wikipedia entry has been subject to major vandalism TWICE in the last 24 hours. The vandal(s) have made it clear that racism is their motive.
    • What did/does the Rodney King vandalism say? Where was it posted? This is one of the problems with wikis.
        • The first vandalism I saw just deleted the entry (all but King's photo) and inserted nonsense, just random letters. [See revision for 14:06, 11 January 2006.] The notation for another edit on the History page was "f**k that n****er." The second vandal deleted the entry, then wrote some text about how King is homosexual (the vandal used a different term) and describing the sex acts they had engaged in together. [See revision at 01:56, 12 January 2006.] In short, it was not only racist but obscene. I took a look at the history -- in large part because I feared, given the timing, that one or both of the vandals might be members of our class -- and discovered that vandalism of the Rodney King entry is common. Interestingly, the same is NOT true for the OJ Simpson entry.
