Pokeruniversity
From Cyberlaw
i want to create a point of generativity on the net for leaning poker, learning to love the game, its lore, its play. poker is a game of life reduced to simplest terms, knowing when to hold'em, when to fold'em, how much to risk, how much to bluff, how to lose and win, and for me, how to teach using the net, how to make a business plan, how to handle digital equipment, record and edit and analyse, how to harness the enthusiasm of students in productive work, how to demonstrate that we can each one of us step up to play a part in this rhetorical internet space i call cyber.
We play poker Friday nights. we run classes, beginners through expert, and tournaments, and one big tournament which within the university world is the granddaddy of them all, like the world cup, the NFL playoffs and superbowl, the Nobel Prize of poker education and internet educational research.
We start here, in this university, from this school, from this class. We make the template of our process, record it in a spec. For starters just the idea of poker as a fun game a law professor recommends, open to men and women of all races all ages, no rule that only english spoken at the table, only that players speak common language. We offer our spec along with a how-we-do-it video and invitation to a beginners class. One progress point in our spec will deal with how tourneys are to be recorded and edited, and will include benchmarks for development of backstories on key players. We invest the spec with progress points and spread it to universities of the world. Once we reach a position in which many nodes are running the full algorithm and feeding content to and through the focal node of our common pokeruniversity.net, we have a league. We appeal to the wikipedia community both as model and as people to come and play and help us build.
No cash buy in for student players, fun and learning and honor more than prize money their motivating force. Money from donors and sponsors to fuel a scholarship fund in the names of the players who win. Invitation to the fundraising arms of schools and universities to join with us in beating the bushes for donors, sponsors and business partners. Give universities the lion's share of revenue in the form of scholarship funds for students.
We seek to form a poker league comprised of regional aggregations of participating schools and universities. We will welcome sponsorship by physical casinos in the region, with regional tourney's to be played at the casino local. We will welcome sponsorship from online casinos willing to allow us to use their tables as tools for teaching and research.
