Rights to Wrongs

"There's a lot of wackos out there that call themselves Klansmen," says Rachel Pendergraft, a spokeswoman for the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in Harrison, Ark. Pendergraft is explaining the Knights' decision to apply to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for protection of its official logo -- a white diamond and Celtic cross, designed by Thom Robb, the Knights' leader. The 500-strong Knights -- the nation's largest Klan faction -- sell it on flags and are worried about pirating by unsavory others. It's hard to imagine who would be more unsavory. According to "Danger: Extremism," a publication of the Anti-Defamation League, Robb has written that most of the country's ills are attributable to "anti-Christ Jews."
